Tamara Kang, Ph.D.
Dr. Kang is an Assistant Professor in the School of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She obtained a M.A. in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D. in Legal Psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso. Post-graduation, she managed a federally funded grant for a multi-site, multi-state implementation project. Dr. Kang’s Barriers to Reducing Crime Lab is committed to: (1) re-entry barriers; (2) effective implementation of evidence-based practices; (3) translation of research into policy and practice; (4) assessment and rehabilitation for justice-involved persons; (5) trust in scientists who conduct the research that supports criminal justice reform initiatives; and (6) mental health stigmatization.
